An early intervention program is a specialised program that provides individualized support to children with developmental delays or concerns from birth to age three. Early intervention encompasses a range of services tailored to address the unique needs of infants and toddlers as well as their families. This program focuses on different domains like motor skills, cognitive skills, speech and language skills as well as social-emotional skills.

While every child develops at their own pace, each child is expected to achieve the milestones in each domain at the specified age range. If there is a delay, it could indicate some underlying difficulties. Birth to 3 years is considered a critical period for language development and development in other areas. If any difficulties are detected at this time, intervention provided immediately can lead to much better outcomes.
